I did quite a few college tours. At the time I went to visit some of the big schools and I felt like it was too big. I fell in love with FIU, because the campus is beautiful. I had a friend who graduated from that program, and she had nothing but good things to say about the professors and the dean. I felt like that was the best fit for me. It was close to home and inexpensive. I graduated with no loan debt, because I got a scholarship to go there as well. It just made sense for me to go there. The scholarship wasn't from FIU, but it allowed me to go to the school of my choice. My parents were ecstatic about that. They already had two kids in college at the time. I remember the orientation, and it was so much fun. I remember competing with the other teams to like find things faster. I still have a picture of my very first day on the campus, in front of the sea in front of the school. That was pretty cool. I was a peer advisor and student ambassador, and I was the vice president of Sigma. One year later, I started the nursing program and needed to study, so I gave up the fraternity. I kept peer advising and kept being a student ambassador for the rest of my time.
