I went to FIU specifically because it was offering a fast track and because of the culture and community. FIU exemplifies a lot of unity and compassion toward its students. That's something that stands out to me, and it's part of my core values. I had a change of heart in careers. Initially I wanted to pursue dentistry through the biology track. Then I found out about FIU's program while I was experiencing personal issues with my grandfather. I was his primary caregiver, and that's what led me toward nursing. At FIU, I was part of a cohort; I was never alone. I felt support not only from the cohort itself and other students but from the staff members and every faculty from the College of Nursing. We were over-prepared to pass the nursing exam. I think that throughout the course, which was a year, we felt confident that we would excel and obtain our licensure within less than a month. Right now, I'm in the process of transitioning from my current employer to another employer. As FIU alumni, I think the opportunities are endless. My biggest takeaway from attending FIU is to always keep moving forward. There's plenty of room to continue a career path, and a career path is constantly changing.
