I started taking care of an elderly woman. After being with her over time, it led me to the desire to do more for her. I wanted to know more about her care, and that was my inspiration for getting an education. At the time, FIU was the place to go. It was very prominent, and it had good educators there. The whole course outline was quite interesting, and it was hands-on. A friend and I decided to do it together. We did the classes together, and we had a great time doing it. We went to different campuses, and we motivated each other. I was working full-time, and I went in the evening after work. We sometimes had classes on Saturdays, and those were fun days. My friend and I had our graduation together, and after we finished, we went to Miami Hospital. What I liked about FIU was the caliber of the professionals who taught us. We had a lot of nurses coming together from different fields. It was a great time, and we looked forward to meeting. We had shared camaraderie, and the professors fostered that.
