I have always wanted to do something in the medical field. I knew I had a passion for nursing. I picked FIU Nursing because it was in my hometown. Back in high school, I remember touring FIU Nursing. I got my RN and then came back to do my RN to BSN. I went through a rough patch when I was getting my degree, and the people at FIU Nursing were able to help me through it and give me chances to find the right people to talk to. Thanks to them, I am where I am. I was grateful for the classes I took and the clinicals I did. I learned about leadership and am now a leader in my nursing community. I got to see a different aspect of nursing, so when I have come across nursing students who want to transition out of the hospital, I've been able to let them know about my experience from classes and clinicals. I won 'Critical Care Nurse of the Year' for all of the ICU units where I work.
