Walter J. Robey, Jr., RN, BSN

MBA '16; BSN '18

I got a degree in biochemistry. Then I started doing HIV case management in Florida, and I realized that I really enjoyed helping people. I started doing social work and trying to make a difference in my community that way. I still wanted to do more to contribute to society. I went into the military and became a combat medic. I did that for five years. Then I started working at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, and that was an excellent opportunity. I worked my way up to operations. One of the nurses at Sarasota Memorial Hospital graduated from FIU, and she told me that I should become a nurse. Then I found out about the Medic to BSN Program at FIU. I applied and got in. The program was amazing. The professors made sure that we succeeded. I credit the professors at FIU because I was well-prepared when I graduated. I was ready to work and got promoted very quickly.
