Audrey P. Miller
Audrey P. Miller, BSN '95, Ph.D., MSN Ed., APRN, PPCNP-BC, CPN, CNE, LNC

Dr. Audrey Miller received her BSN from the NWCNHS in 1995. She earned her MSN in Nursing Education from Nova Southeastern University in 2006 and her PhD in Nursing from Barry University in 2011. She also received her Post-Master’s Certificate as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from the NWCNHS in 2014. She is certified as a pediatric nurse practitioner and nurse educator.

Dr. Miller is currently a Clinical Associate Professor at NWCNHS, Program Director for the AO BSN, RN-BSN & RN-BSN/MSN Tracks, and Nurse Educator Track Leader in the Graduate Nursing Program. She teaches a variety of nursing courses at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral level, using all teaching modalities. She also serves as the Faculty Mentor for the pre-nursing bridge program with Florida Memorial College and has created a partnership with the NWCHNS and 100 Black Men of South Florida that exposes underprivileged Black men to the health professions.

Dr. Miller has received numerous grants that support student education, including her instrumental contribution to a $1.5 million grant to support student scholarships and recruitment of diverse faculty for the Nurse Educator Program. Dr. Miller's community service focus is children's oral health education. Through partnerships with local organizations, her oral health education programs have been well received throughout the south Florida region.

Dr. Miller has received numerous awards for her role as a nurse educator including the FIU Faculty Senate Award for Excellence in Teaching (2021), the FNA Nurse Educator Award (2021), and the FNA Nurse Educator Icon Award (2023). As her nominator states, “I could go on about the many esteemed professional and service organizations that she tirelessly serves, but her passion for the health care of children and teaching nursing students certainly guides and fuels her fortitude and commitment.”

An alumna/alumnus who has shared knowledge, skills, and experience through their role as a nurse educator, creating and cultivating an environment that has supported professional growth and life-long learning.

For a Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing & Health Sciences graduate that has:

  • Been recognized as an inspiring nurse educator by their students and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated leadership in education, curriculum design, innovative teaching methodologies, assessment, and evaluation.
  • Used innovative teaching strategies and evidence-based practice in clinical areas, focusing on scholarly research and dissemination within clinical settings.
  • Contributed significantly to nursing through publications and presentations at the regional, national and/or international level.
  • Led efforts for accreditation of academic programs and/or credentialing of health care systems.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and participation in mentoring, coaching and/or precepting students and colleagues.
