Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is the foundation of a professional nursing career and the first step toward opportunities in leadership, advanced practice, and specialized healthcare roles. At FIU's Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing & Health Sciences, the Traditional BSN program combines rigorous coursework, hands-on clinical experiences, and advanced simulation training in our S.T.A.R. Center to prepare practice-ready nurses for today's healthcare environment.

As a full-time, upper-division program, students develop the clinical knowledge, critical thinking, and patient-centered care skills needed to succeed in a rapidly evolving healthcare system. Classes are held at the Modesto A. Maidique Campus (MMC), and students are admitted twice a year in the Spring and Fall semesters.

Whether you're beginning your nursing journey or building a foundation for future leadership opportunities, you'll graduate with the skills, experience, and confidence to make an impact in healthcare.

Licensing Eligibility

Graduates of the program are eligible to become licensed as a registered nurse (RN) upon passing the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN®) and can pursue graduate studies in nursing at the master’s and doctoral levels.

Admissions & Advising Requirements

We strongly urge all prospective students to attend an Information Session (register with the form below) at the Modesto A. Maidique Campus (MMC), followed by an individual advising appointment. After attending the session, students should call 305-348-7703 and follow the prompts to their program of interest to schedule advising. Applicants must bring copies of all transcripts to the advising appointment for evaluation of deficiencies in state-mandated requirements and/or nursing prerequisite courses.

Financial Assistance & Scholarships

Make your BSN Education more affordable with a variety of financial aid and scholarship opportunities.

The NWCNHS has secured additional funds to address the urgent need for highly qualified nurses. These funds are being used to support an additional admission cycle for the Traditional BSN program. We are now admitting students in the fall and spring.
